Finding Inspiration in the North Highlands
So, you may be asking yourselves what is there for me in the North Highlands as a creative person? Well, let me show you.
The North Highland is jam packed with amazing views that are just waiting for someone like you to come along and take the most wonderful photo of or paint the most beautiful painting you ever have in your life. Whether you’re interested in breath-taking sunsets, wild weather and waves or just cute little animals, the North Highlands has what you’re looking for.
One such artist that was inspired by the Highlands was Magi Sinclair, who had an interest in the peatland bog in the far north of Scotland. Inspired by the peatland bog, one of her prize winning carbon drawings was titled Forsinard Hummocks.
And was part of her collection known as The Flow Country.
Moving on to the photography side of things, a photographer that has found inspiration from the Highlands is Karen Thorburn. The main body of her work is taken in the Black Isle, near Inverness, mainly focusing on the landscapes of the Highlands.
But as you can see by the photographs below she also gives a little love towards the vast wildlife that the Highlands has to offer.
Its not only photographers and painters that have found inspiration in the place we call home. Designers have as well!
Inspired by Caithness, a digital artist, found inspiration from all around Caithness, including the local puffins and mount Morven, designing a range of homeware and decorative items.
So.. After hearing about just three of the many people that have been inspired by the Highlands and seeing the amazing work that they have done because of this place, whether you’re interested in photography, painting or design the North Highlands has something for you.
